Saj al Samak Restaurant – Interior Design
__
Saj Al Samak’s interior tells a quiet story of Sudanese heritage—one shaped by wood, woven fibers, and the soft glow of evening light. The ceiling draws the eye with its exposed wooden beams and panels of sunduq palm matting, a tribute to local building traditions. Between them, string lights are gently suspended, casting a golden warmth that invites you to settle in. Along the walls, exposed red brick grounds the space with rustic texture, while the upper half is finished in soft beige plaster, clean and understated. Beneath it all, dark wood planks stretch across the floor, anchoring the space in deep, earthy tones. Woven partitions create small enclosures—neither fully open nor closed—where guests can gather around low wooden tables. Striped stools and straw placemats echo the patterns and materials of Sudanese homes, turning each setting into a small gesture of memory. On one wall, woven baskets in natural tones form a quiet display of culture and craft. Lantern-style lights rest on clay and wicker stands, flickering like those found in village courtyards. The atmosphere is unforced and full of presence—a space where texture carries meaning, and where the past and present sit easily at the same table
